Charity Events at the Moon Festival

MANDY SU  |  NOV 15, 2023

During the Moon Festival, Grade 11 and 12 students from the Gastronomy Club organised a fundraising booth to support ISA’s charity organisation. They prepared homemade moon cakes and distributed them through a game of rock-paper-scissors. After paying for a minimum of 2¥ participation fee, students, parents and teachers got to take a mooncake of their preferred flavour.

Organising this activity was not an easy process for the Gastronomy club. Their group demonstrated their perseverance and creativity through the process of brainstorming, planning, and trial and error. They pursued and eventually, with great success, met their goals despite working on a tight schedule that demanded both time and effort.
A group of grade 8 students initiated a fundraiser during the Moon Festival that supported a group of teachers in Liangshan, Sichuan, who worked together to provide quality education for children in low-income families. Many children in Liangshan were not able to receive quality education or even education at all, and the students recognized this as a serious issue. The students set up a booth beside the atrium and filled it with pictures of Liangshan and handmade gifts from the students there. By the end of the festival, the students fundraised a remarkable amount of over 3000¥. Not only did they raise donations, they were also able to spread awareness of this issue. This marked the first step of their project, and we hope to see more of them in the future.
