Grade 7 Experiential Week Trip to Yingde

OLIVIA WANG |  DEC 18, 2023

The experience of camping during experiential week for G7A students was truly fascinating. The trip to Yingde was described as “the best week of the year” by most of our classmates.

The most obvious outcome of trips is that it is an opportunity to spend time in nature and do things that we cannot often do in the cities. The whole class believed that the rock-climbing session was the best. Although many of us have the fright of heights, we overcome our fears and become risk-takers. I also believe rock climbing and all the other activities during G7 camping are the same as life. We might fail. We might win. However, we try to make the best of it. Try to overcome the limitations of ourselves.

The trip was also an opportunity to develop our friendship with classmates. We start to know better about our friends. In the bonfire activity, we saw everyone’s talents. Some good at dancing, some good at singing. Some are good at acting, and some are good at being funny. We cooperated, played games, built tents, and won. But it is not only about competing but creating a positive relationship.

The trip is also a lesson. We learned about leaving no trace. To save nature for a better environment. We learned survival skills during orienteering. We work together towards the endpoint of the map. It was also an opportunity to get to know ourselves. As Jennifer said, volunteering, raising a hand, and representing a team, made us have an understanding of what leadership is and the strengths of our community. It surely has a great impact, a fun impact, a relaxing impact on all of us.

On behalf of all of us here in G7A, we would like to show our greatest gratitude to Mr. Luke Fisher, G7 Homeroom Teachers, and all the staff that made this happen.
