Model United Nations

ANNIE SON  |  NOV 15, 2023

What is Model UN? Model United Nations is a simulation that mimics the procedures that the UN takes to resolve issues that arise in the real world. It is an academic recreation of the UN's processes. In the MUN there are discussions, negotiations, and fruitful debates. Every Monday after school, there is a Model UN CCA organised by Annie, Jinyao and Kanji in Mr. K’s classroom, and it is one of the most popular CCAs currently. This CCA aims to research, investigate and contemplate global issues. Moreover, we will manage events that can help the United Nations achieve its sustainable development goals by 2030. Through Model UN, students will be able to get a wider view of the world as they try to design and present sustainable solutions to world-threatening issues.

Annie, Jinyao and Kanji serve on the MUN Advisory Board, to guide and help students develop the prior skills they need to enter national and international conferences, such as researching skills, public speaking skills, debating skills and more. Our most recent activity involved research on UN committees. Students were able to build an understanding of the operation of the United Nations and discuss the roles of each committee, which will be crucial when representing the delegation of different nations. We hope to arrange more activities and conferences moving onward, so, if anyone is interested in joining, please contact Annie, Jinyao or Kanji!
